Supercars champions Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki join ROC New Zealand line-up
Australia's Supercars champions return to Race Of Champions after their runner-up finish in Sydney — and this time they're on opposite sides of a Supercars grid.
Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki are heading to Wellington. Both Australian Supercars champions have been confirmed for Race Of Champions Wellington at Hnry Stadium on 9–10 January 2027, adding two more big names to a field that already includes Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas, Chaz Mostert and Hayden Paddon.
The pair made an immediate impact on their ROC debut in Sydney in 2025. Representing Team Australia Supercars in the ROC Nations Cup, they went all the way to the final at Accor Stadium, where Brown beat Sébastien Loeb in the opening heat before Kostecki was edged out by Victor Martins. France took the deciding race by just 0.2 seconds.
There's plenty of history between them. Kostecki was crowned Supercars Champion in 2023 and added the Bathurst 1000 in 2024; Brown took his maiden Supercars title in 2024. Former Erebus Motorsport teammates, they now race for rivals Triple Eight Race Engineering and Dick Johnson Racing — and co-host the Lucky Dogs podcast when they're not racing each other.
In Wellington they'll be reunited on a purpose-built stadium circuit neither of them has seen before, going wheel-to-wheel with some of the world's best drivers in identical cars.
Will Brown: "It was one of the best weekends I've had outside of Supercars, and getting to go racing with Brodie there was a highlight — we're rivals enough as it is on a Supercars weekend, so being teammates again on a track neither of us really knows was a different kind of fun. Getting the call to come back was an easy yes. Wellington looks like an incredible venue, and I can't wait to line up again alongside a field like this. Thanks to Fredrik and the whole ROC team for having us back."
Brodie Kostecki: "I had such a good time at ROC in 2025, and having Will & Chaz there made it even better. We go at it hard enough in Supercars, so getting to race them again in something completely different was a lot of fun. I jumped at the chance to be part of it again. Wellington's a new challenge, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the track throws at us, and to going wheel-to-wheel with some of the best drivers in the world again. They join reigning 2025 Supercars Champion and two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert, who finished runner-up to nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb in the individual Race Of Champions competition in Sydney. Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, 10-time Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas and New Zealand rally star Hayden Paddon are also confirmed, with more drivers to be announced.
