Porsche Race Of Champions Snow + Ice Challenge support race to be held at Pite Havsbad

Today, a star-studded starting field is presented to participate in the Porsche Race Of Champions Snow + Ice Challenge support race to kick-off the winter motorsport Festival at held at Pite Havsbad.


Race Of Champions Snow + Ice is this winter's big international racing event. The competition grows into a 10-day motorsport festival that gathers the world elite in Norrbotten during the month of January-February next year. As the name suggests, ROC 2022 will be historic by being the first edition ever decided on ice.


Star-packed starting field will inaugurate the iconic Race Of Champions parallel track at Pite Havsbad in the Porsche 718 GT4 Clubsport.


International drivers:

  • Marc Lieb (Germany), Le Mans winner and WEC champion;

  • Dennis Hauger (Norway) reigning FIA F3 champion;

  • Jan Magnussen (Denmark) former Formula 1 driver, four class victories in Le Mans, double championship victories in ALMS and IMSA;

  • Niclas Grönholm (Finland), belongs to the world elite in rallycross with six victories and a third place in this year's World RX.

Swedish drivers:

  • Lukas Sundahl, four-time champion in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia;

  • Anton Marklund, champion of Euro RX and Porsche Approved Cup;

  • Pontus Fredricsson, silver and bronze medalist in the Carrera Cup;

  • Hampus Ericsson, three-time race winner and silver medalist in the Carrera Cup.

"We are proud to open the winter's big motor party in Piteå with the Porsche Race Of Champions Snow + Ice Challenge," says Raine Wermelin, Director, Porsche Sweden. "Eight Swedish and international star drivers will offer spectacular ice racing with the Porsche 718 GT4 Clubsport."

Within the two groups, they will first compete with each other to sort out the best drivers in each group. The fastest drivers advance to a Swedish and an international final. The winners meet in a "Super Final" where this year's Porsche Race Of Champions Snow + Ice Challenge Champion is crowned.

Among the competitors in the main ROC World Final (the weekend 5th & 6th Feb) - which will feature the team competition ROC Nations Cup and the individual Race Of Champions - are a number of motorsport superstars, including four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, nine-time WRC champion Sebastien Loeb and nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen. The starting list also includes double Formula 1 world champion Mika Häkkinen, ten-time Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas and Formula 1 driver and F2 champion Mick Schumacher.

Porsche's involvement in the Race Of Champions Snow + Ice at Pite Havsbad also includes an exciting Celebrity Race that is run during the final weekend for which has already been announced alpine world stars Ingemar Stenmark and Aksel Lund Svindal to start in Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

A limited release of general admission tickets for the 2022 ROC Snow + Ice WORLD FINAL 5-6 February at Pite Havsbad is available at Tickster. Event organizers will comply with any COVID restrictions in effect. Organizers and local officials will be providing updates with regard to any additional ticket sales and any restrictions affecting travel and local services due to COVID.
