Jorge Lorenzo has become a superstar of MotoGP, having taken two world championships at motorcycling's highest level.

Lorenzo announced his arrival on the world stage with his two 250cc titles in 2006 and 2007. He has gone on to take well over 30 wins for Yamaha at motorcycling’s highest level, finishing in the MotoGP world championship top three in each of the last seven seasons and taking his first title in 2010.

2012 was even more remarkable for Lorenzo, who finished in the top two on the podium in every race bar one. The Spanish rider’s second place at Australia’s Phillip Island circuit was enough for him to ease clear of compatriot Dani Pedrosa and wrap up his second MotoGP world championship with a race to spare. He is now firmly back in contention again in 2015 after a run of four straight victories.

As famous for his flamboyant celebrations as his run of success, Lorenzo showed he can race on four wheels too as he partnered 'Mr Le Mans' Tom Kristensen to the 2012 ROC Nations Cup semi-finals for Team All Stars. He will now get another chance to show what he can do when he competes at London's former Olympic Stadium in 2015.

I look forward to rounding the season off by taking on the world’s best drivers at the Race Of Champions. Of course I don’t underestimate the challenge of racing them at their own game but I’m glad to see Mick Doohan in the field too. We’ll both do our best to remind them that bikers can race on four wheels too.
