ROC Winner     Juha Kankkunen
ROC Finalist     Didier Auriol
ROC Semi-Finalists     Blomqvist And Vatanen

A new rally track at the Jarama circuit in Madrid was the scene for the fourthRace Of Champions – which proved a great success despite horrendous weather conditions. It saw the 1991 World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen add the title of ‘Champion of Champions’ to his accumulated accolades for the year by virtue of his victory over Lancia team-mate Didier Auriol in the final.

Kankkunen beat Auriol by 2 heats to 1 in the final, the latter having beaten thelocal hero, Carlos Sainz in the semis. It was Kankkunen’s second victory in the event which he also won in its first running, in 1988.

In the International Rally Masters, contested in Peugeot 309 Gtis, the Spanish champion Josep Maria Bardolet surprisingly overcame Armin Schwarz in a tense final.

This year also saw the first running of the Spanish Masters, won by Gustavo Trelles.
