ROC Factor Stockholm 2017

Two lucky ROC Factor Scandinavia winners had the chance of a lifetime to race against two of world motorsport’s legendary stars at the Monster Jam in Stockholm’s Friends Arena last weekend.

‘Mr Le Mans’ Tom Kristensen took to the track alongside Swedish six-time World Speedway Champion Tony Rickardsson. But they had their work cut out racing the RX Supercar Lite against Denmark’s Ulrik Linnemann and Sweden’s Jim Olofsson, who won the chance to compete after a contest on social media, alongside YouTube star Gustav Träff

In front of a delighted crowd, rallycross specialist Linnemann ended up fending off drift ace Olofsson to win ROC Factor Scandinavia. In a separate contest for the two legends, home hero Rickardsson defeated Kristensen for glory.

What made you decide to sign up for ROC Factor?

I signed up for ROC Factor because it would be amazing to be a part of and because I thought the chance to actually win could be there for me. I have heard about it before, and I thought this had to be my chance.

What was your strategy to convince the jury and gather enough votes?

I signed up with a story about why I should get this opportunity. I told how I have always fought - and still am fighting - for a professional racing career. When the contest began my competitors seemed to run off with all the votes but I never give up. I shared it on my social media and asked people to help me out, saying how much I wanted this. There was also some help from the media, and people really listened to me.

How did you enjoy the experience of racing in a packed stadium?

It’s always amazing to drive in front of a lot of spectators. It was an amazing experience to see myself on the big screen, get presented and hear the fully packed stadium cheer.

Are you happy with your performance in the races?

I think I could have done it better but I won, so I need to be satisfied with how I did. I think it’s a typical racing driver thing to always want to do it even better…

Will the ROC Factor appearance help you in your career?

It’s hard to say, but I hope it can lead to some new opportunities.

Runner-up Jim Olofsson, 29, Sweden

What made you decide to sign up for ROC Factor?

I really wanted to push myself to the limit.

What was your strategy to convince the jury and gather enough votes?

To just write about what I have done the last years and hope for the best. I just have my fans to thank for all the votes.

How did you enjoy the experience of racing in a packed stadium?

It was a blast! I'm really hoping to do more arena events.

Are you happy with your performance in the races?

I was really pleased. I had never driven a four-wheel drive rallycross car before. And to lose the finals by just 0.4 seconds feels amazing.

Will the ROC Factor appearance help you in your RX career?

I am hoping to get a chance to drive more rallycross but my main focus next year will be drifting.
