There will be high octane action and adrenaline both on and off track at this week’s Race Of Champions in London as the FMX4Ever motocross team bring their latest show to the former Olympic Stadium on November 20-21.
FMX4Ever has a diverse team from all over the world, who between them hold 4 FIM IFMXF World Championship tittles, 3 World Records, 10 X-Games medals and a Red Bull X-Fighters Championship title. Now the FMX4Ever team is heading to ROC 2015 in London to thrill the crowds with their two-wheeled antics.
A line-up featuring Czech rider Martin Koren, British ace Chris Brock and Belgium’s Gilles Dejong will fly over a distance of 21m at heights up to 12m as they perform stunning tricks such as tsunami back flips, various combo tricks and huge whips. It’s a sight not to be missed and one that is guaranteed to stay long in the memories of the London spectators.
There’s plenty for four-wheeled fans to get excited about as well, notably stunt driver Terry Grant who will be showing just what can be done in a car. Then be prepared for some serious noise as the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team show off their race-winning 2013 car – straight from the era of the ear-splitting V8 engines.
As if all that’s not enough, there will also be DJs, cheerleaders and music – not least the new ROC Song by this year’s ROC Soundtrack winner Zsolt Boga. It all adds up to a show where the action never stops.
ROC president Fredrik Johnsson said: “We like to pack in our entertainment at the Race Of Champions and this year is no exception. Just like our unique form of racing on our brand new pursuit track, the FMX4Ever Show is a rollercoaster of thrills from start to finish.
“For those who prefer four wheels to two we also have a demo from the race-winning Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 car and our favourite stunt supremo Terry Grant. There are still tickets available for both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon but we urge people to get in quick. We can guarantee that anyone coming to the former Olympic Stadium later this week will not go short of speed, action and noise…”
The shows will be part of a busy programme of entertainment that runs alongside the main event, the Race Of Champions itself. This is an annual end-of-season contest which has been running for over 25 years. It brings together some of the world’s greatest drivers from motor sport’s major disciplines – including Formula 1, Le Mans, IndyCar, Rallycross and Touring Cars – and sets them free to battle head-to-head in identical machinery.
The event is run over two days: first comes the ROC Nations Cup (on the evening of Friday November 20) when drivers pair up in teams based on nationality to bid for the title of ‘World’s Fastest Nation’. Then on the afternoon of Saturday November 21 it’s time for the Race Of Champions itself, when teamwork goes out of the window and it’s a flat-out battle for individual glory.
The 2015 field features F1 stars Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Romain Grosjean, Nico Hülkenberg and Felipe Massa, ‘Mr Le Mans’ Tom Kristensen, reigning World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg, reigning Formula E Champion Nelson Piquet Jr, reigning World Touring Car Champion José Maria López, reigning DTM Champion Pascal Wehrlein, 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay, triple World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx, Williams Martini Racing’s Official Test Driver Susie Wolff, double British Touring Car Champion Jason Plato, Blancpain Endurance Series Champion Alex Buncombe, 2014 GP2 Champion Jolyon Palmer, ROC Champion of Champions David Coulthard plus MotoGP world champions Mick Doohan and Jorge Lorenzo.
