Reigning ROC Champion of Champions Filipe Albuquerque has earned a seat with Audi in the prestigious German touring car series DTM for 2011.

Albuquerque rose to prominence after winning last year’s Race Of Champions in Düsseldorf, defeating Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel in the semi-final before seeing off world rally champion Sébastien Loeb in the grand final.

Once a Red Bull protégé, Albuquerque’s career had eased off until his surprise win, and he spent last year racing for Audi in Italian GTs. Indeed, the Portuguese driver only qualified for the event by winning the qualifying event ROC South Europe in partnership with fellow countryman Alvaro Parente.

Now his ROC victory has put him right back into the thick of the motorsport scene. He will line up for the Rosberg Audi DTM team alongside double Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix winner Edoardo Mortara.
