The Race Of Champions Nations Cup Semi Finals
Race 1: Team Scandinavia v Autosport Great Britain
Drivers: Jenson Button (Autosport Great Britain)
Car: Fiat 500 Abarth
An extremely close race with the Scandinavian team driver taking the victory less than half a car’s length ahead of Britain’s Button, putting the pressure on team mate Andy Priaux to pull out the stops for Autosport Great Britain in the next race.
Race 2: Team Scandinavia v Autosport Great Britain
Drivers: Mattias Ekstrom (Team Scandinavia) v Andy Priaux (Team Autosport GB)
Ekstrom stalls on the line to give three-time WTCC champ, Priaux, some breathing room. The Team Autosport GB driver breezes to the victory, setting the fastest time of the day and a last race shoot-out between the two teams
Race 3: F1 Racing Great Britain v Team Germany
Drivers: Michael Schumacher (Team Germany) v David Coulthard (Team F1 Racing GB)
Car: KTM X-Bow
Having got four wheels off the ground on the second lap, Coulthard locks up and collides heavily with the track barriers and then loses control again down the straight, having to stop and reverse. Schumacher notices his rival’s error and slows down on the last straight to wait for the Scot before accelerating over the line to make it look like a close finish.
Race 4: Team F1 Racing GB v Team Germany
Drivers: Jason Plato (Team F1 Racing GB), Sebastian Vettel (Team Germany)
Though chased hard all the way by Plato, Vettel makes it look effortless as he takes victory to put Germany through to the finals.
Tie Breaker: Scandinavia v Team F1 Racing GB
Drivers: Andy Priaux (Team Autosport GB), Tom Kristensen (Team Scandinavia)
Car: ROC Car
The race to decide who takes on Germany in the final ends with a nail-biting finish, but Kristensen managers to hold off the former World Touring Car champion off to make it a Scandinavia v Germany final.
