Richard Mille will be the Official Watch and Timekeeper for the 2009 Race Of Champions at the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing, which takes place November 2-4, immediately after the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix.
The Race of Champions 2009 will be the first major international sports event to take place in China’s national stadium since the 2008 Olympic Games.
The 2009 event, which moves from Wembley, after a two-year run at England’s national stadium and three years at the Stade de France in Paris, will be staged over three days to offer spectators a more extensive programme and the possibility to see more competitors and cars than ever before.
The Richard Mille logo will be visible on the backdrops in areas like the drivers’ lounge, car changing area, press conference room, website and on international TV broadcasts.
In 2009, The Race of Champions will once again bring together some of the most successful drivers ever, like 7-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel, current Formula 1 World Championship leader Jenson Button, 8-time Le Mans 24Hours Champion Tom Kristensen, 2-time DTM Champion Mattias Ekström, current World Rally Championship leader Mikko Hirvonen, 5-time Motorcycle World Champion Mick Doohan, 3-time World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx and many more stars.
Richard Mille, who is a keen motor racing enthusiast, is delighted to be associated with this prestigious event.
Fredrik Johnsson, President of The Race of Champions organisers IMP said of the partnership: “Following a highly successful and mutually rewarding 5 year long relationship with Tag Heuer, in 2009 we’re delighted to announce a new partnership with Richard Mille. We’re very excited to start a relationship with such a highly prestigious watch brand as Richard Mille as the Official Watch and Timekeeping Partner for The Race of Champions 2009.”
