Alex Buncombe reached the top of the world in 2015 when he won the Pro Category of the Blancpain Endurance Championship alongside team-mates Katsumaya Chiyo (Japan) and Wolfgang Reip (Belgium) for Nissan, for whom Alex is a factory driver and part of the Global NISMO Athlete Squad.

Alex could hardly have avoided a career in motor sport given that grandfather John raced in the Fifties and Sixties and father Jonathan had a 20-year career in Touring Cars. No surprise that both Alex and brother Chris both started racing at the age of 8.

Once described as 'Nissan's secret weapon', Alex uses his vast experience in GT and sportscars to train up Nissan’s GT Academy stars – notably Sir Chris Hoy (who is also appearing here) in the 2014 British GT Championship.

Last year Alex made his debut in the Australian V8 Supercars Championship, including the legendary Bathurst 1000. He has also taken multiple race wins at the Le Mans Classic and the Monaco Historic Grand Prix. Now he will hope for further glory this weekend, particularly as he partners his old friend Jenson Button in the 2015 ROC Nations Cup.
