overview

The Race Of Champions returned to Germany for the second year in succession, continuing its stay at Düsseldorf's ESPRIT arena.

ROC newcomer Sébastien Ogier made the perfect debut, romping through to take his first Champion of Champions title. The rally star took victory over Tom Kristensen in the best-of-three final to prevail over a field that featured a total of 10 Formula 1 world championships courtesy of Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button.

Schumacher and Vettel met in the quarter-finals for the second year in succession - and this time it was the elder statesman who triumphed in front of the pair's home crowd. Schumacher progressed no further, however, defeated by Kristensen in a dramatic semi-final.

The ROC Nations Cup provided Team Germany with their now-customary dose of glory as Schumacher and Vettel triumphed for the fifth year in succession - and the second in front of their adoring home fans. After edging past Team GB's Button and Andy Priaulx in the semi-final, the German duo emerged triumphant from the final against Team Nordic's pairing of Kristensen and another ROC debutant, rally ace Juho Hänninen.

To add further gloss to the home nation's weekend, Germany's Heinz-Harald Frentzen took the ROC Legends title.
