overview

The Race Of Champions returned to Paris for the second time – and this time the home crowd at the Stade de France got the winner they craved.

Sébastien Loeb defeated Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen in the final. The first heat was a close-run affair but the Dane crashed out of the second, meaning Loeb could coast home to victory in front of his adoring countrymen.

Kristensen had the consolation of taking the ROC Nations Cup for Team Scandinavia at the start of a long-lasting partnership with Sweden’s Mattias Ekström. The pair actually remained unbeaten in even a single heat for the entire duration of the tournament, finally defeating home favourites Team France to lift the trophy.
