The tyre brand BFGoodrich is proud to be a partner of the 2007 Race of Champions, a competition which opposes champions from all of motor sport's major disciplines. With a competition history dating back more than three decades, BFGoodrich tyres have triumphed in a long list of leading championships.
Founded in 1870 by Dr Benjamin Franklin Goodrich, the American tyre brand boasts a long history of innovation and exploring new limits. In 1903, BFGoodrich tyres crossed the USA before going on to fly across the Atlantic on Charles Lindberg's Spirit of St Louis plane in 1927, and later travelled in space on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1977...
Since the 1970s, BFGoodrich's products have triumphed in a long list of motor sport disciplines, including category wins in the Le Mans 24 Hours, the 24 Hours of Daytona and Japan's fiercely competitive GT 300 championship. It is in cross-country rallying, however, and more recently the WRC et IRC rally championships, that BFGoodrich has emerged as THE benchmark brand when it comes to tyres.
BFGoodrich has also claimed 20 wins on the Baja 1000, the American continent's best known rally-raid, as well as nine victories on the celebrated Dakar, plus ten FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup titles. The 2006 season saw BFGoodrich begin its association with the FIA World Rally Championship and, in the space of just two campaigns, its tyres have secured four world crowns and no fewer than 32 world class wins on gravel, asphalt and snow.
The Race of Champions, which features some of the world's most talented drivers, is exactly the sort of challenge in which BFGoodrich revels. On the asphalt circuit laid out on the pitch of Wembley Stadium, London, its tyres will offer just the sort of response and steering precision that guest champions like Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Tom Kristensen, Sébastien Bourdais and Marcus Grönholm all demand when competing on track or stage…

The Race of Champions was started in 1988 by Fredrik Johnsson and Michèle Mouton, the world’s most successful female rally driver.
The Race Of Champions event on December 14 will be made up of two separate competitions – The ROC Nations Cup and The Race of Champions.
Each competition pits drivers against each other in a head-to-head knockout format, with equal equipment ensuring races are won and lost on talent alone.
The ROC Nations Cup features drivers paired into teams based on their nationality. The teams then fight head-to-head against each other in knockout competition. Last year Team Germany (Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel) beat Team Finland (Marcus Grönholm and Heikki Kovalainen) in the final.
The Race Of Champions is a straightforward knockout competition, where 16 drivers go head-to-head until the champion is decided. In last year’s Final, Mattias Ekström beat Michael Schumacher in the third race of a best-of-three battle.
